Job Description:   Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Mechanics install, maintain and repair heating, cooling, and refrigeration equipment in homes and in commercial and industrial buildings. Using hand tools such as wrenches, electric drills, pipe cutters, and test instruments, they install and connect ducts, refrigerant lines, furnaces, compressors, motors, fans, thermostats, and other air conditioning and heating equipment components. Mechanics may specialize in areas such as installation, maintenance, and servicing of furnaces, commercial refrigerators, or solar panels.

Basic Job Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. Aptitude for mechanical work
  3. Ability to solve problems using math, basic physics and mechanics, and learn technical data
  4. Courses in math, chemistry, physics, mechanical drawing, and shop highly recommended
  5. Good communication skills are needed

 Possible Job Paths:
 Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Mechanics can move up to Service Manager, Supervisor, Sales and Marketing, or Self-Ownership of a Business.
