Job Description: Cashiers total-up bills, receive money, make change, complete credit card forms, issue receipts, and handle returned and exchanged merchandise. Cashiers typically work in grocery stores, department stores, insurance companies, gasoline service stations, hospitals, theaters, restaurants, and many other types of retail businesses as well as government agencies. Cashiers may use cash registers, adding machines, scanners, and computer terminals to add up customer purchases. Cashiers must know company policies on handling returned merchandise, making adjustments to bills, and handling customer complaints.
