Job Description: Medical Records Technicians are also called Health Information Technicians, and they organize, analyze and evaluate medical records. They compile medical care and census data for reports on types of diseases treated, surgery done, and rate of hospital bed use. Technicians consult with doctors to check codes for contradictory or unclear information and participate in the coding team's regular meetings. They must know coding system regulations. They also need to understand third-party reimbursement regulations for health insurance.
