Job Description:   Secretaries perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to assist professional staff. Secretaries monitor and maintain daily office activities and schedules, operate office machines and equipment, and facilitate communications. They screen telephone calls, schedule appointments, arrange travel for office staff, check and route mail, draft letters and reports, and may review the work of others.

Basic Job Requirements:

  1. Clerical skills
  2. Good typing skills
  3. Ability to use office machines, such as calculators and copiers
  4. Knowledge and use of word processors and personal computers
  5. Initiative, pleasant personality, ability to work under pressure
  6. Good personal grooming
  7. Clear speaking voice
  8. Secretarial training desirable

 Possible Job Paths:
 Secretaries can move up to Clerical Supervisor, Senior or Executive Secretary, Administrative Assistant, or Office Manager.
