Data Entry Keyer

Job Description:   Data Entry Keyers use machines with keyboards and functions similar to those of computer terminals, typewriters, and ten-key adding machines to make data usable to a computer. Following routine instructions they read and key enter information from source materials such as canceled checks, utility bills, credit card bills, survey forms, and sales records into specific data fields. Data Entry Keyers may be also called key data operators.

Basic Job Requirements:

  1. High school graduation or equivalent
  2. Training in operating business machines preferred
  3. Ability to type 45-50 words per minute
  4. Data entry experience in school desirable

 Possible Job Paths:
 Data Entry Keyers can move up to Data Entry Supervisor, Computer Programmer Trainee, Computer Operator, or Data Entry Manager.
